Customer Feedback
Everything was provided in order to give trainees experience with teaching in real life scenarios. Instructors were beyond excellent. They were highly qualified and extremely intelligent.
I enjoyed the pace and the people. I loved going to class everyday and meeting new students. Not a day passed that I didn't laugh. It was stressful but not to the extent of total collapse. The trainers were lovely and impressed me with their knowledge and experience. The people literally made the experience what it was.

The CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) course, taught by highly qualified instructors with extensive EFL teaching experience, provides intensive, practical training for Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults. Trainees learn the basic methodology of teaching and are exposed to a wide variety of teaching techniques through supervised practice teaching of foreign students on site at our EFL school.
The CELTA is a passport to working and seeing the world, providing the necessary tools and practical training for graduates to pursue EFL teaching positions within the US and abroad. As demand for English Language Teaching continues to increase worldwide, more jobs are becoming available overseas than ever before.
Owing to the intensive nature of the 4-week course, trainees are obliged to attend 100% of the course.
While our trainees have an enjoyable learning experience, they are also expected to work hard and take their preparation seriously, turning in all assignments punctually. Final assessment for each trainee is based on active class participation, quality of written assignments and most importantly, a satisfactory level of teaching ability as demonstrated during the practice sessions.
Successful graduates will receive a "Pass" (an "A" or "B" grade will be given to exceptional trainees) and will be awarded a certificate issued by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate in England. The school will keep records of the assessment forms written by the trainers, the progress report given at the middle of the course and the final grade given to the trainees. References are readily made available to employers.
Accommodation Options
As soon as you are accepted into a course, you should start arranging your accommodation. If you have any problems with finding suitable accommodation, the school will help. (Please note: if you arrange accommodation through the school, there is an accommodation placement fee of $65.00).
The school can help you to find a host family in San Francisco. A single room with half board (breakfast and dinner) in a host family costs $272 per week. A single room with breakfast only costs $202 per week. Shared rooms are only recommended for two people traveling together and a shared room with half board is $223 (per person) per week. You can expect to pay between $900 and $2500 per month depending on the hotel, time of year, and type of room). Stays at residence hotels start at $395 per week and $1365 per month.
The school recommends that you book early, especially for accommodation during the summer period.
School Details - San Francisco Downtown
This school is a language teaching and teacher training institution which has operated in San Francisco for over twenty years. It was the first institution to provide short, practical training programs in TESOL in the USA and the first to offer Cambridge University approved teacher training courses such as the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults or CELTA. St. Giles International San Francisco belongs to a group of language schools and teacher training centers founded in England in 1955, with centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil and China. The San Francisco center runs CELTA teacher training courses throughout the year and is the largest, most established Cambridge CELTA training center in the United States.
San Francisco
San Francisco has been the impressive backdrop of many a Hollywood blockbuster, and it doesn't take much imagination to picture famous car chases through its hilly streets or strategic fights at the top of Golden Gate bridge. In real life, however, the city is even more enthralling. Sitting on the tip of a 30 mile peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean to the west and the San Francisco Bay to the north and east, its long, precipitous streets provide peeks to the glistening water below, morning mist rises mystically over the bridges and traditional tramways offer relief to sore legs. It is a city that delights visitors and locals alike, with its relaxed charm, bohemian chic and cultural spice. Top this off with a dazzling nightlife and you've got one of the most enchanting cities on America's west coast.
