TEFL course and TEFL Jobs in Portugal
There are many similarities between the working conditions
in Spain and Portugal, though English tends to be better
taught in schools in Portugal, meaning the levels you're
likely to encounter in private English schools will tend
to be higher than elsewhere. This means your TEFL job will
most likely require you to teach intermediate and above
more often than beginners and pre-intermediate students,
and any experience you have in teaching younger learners
or teaching business English will also be very welcome.
Taking your TEFL course in Portugal is ideal if you are
hoping to teach English there after the course. The school
in Lisbon is run by International House and has an excellent
reputation. If you plan to stay and look for work in Portugal,
taking the course there will give you a feel of what it's
like to be living and working there. By talking to other
teachers in the school, the local TEFL grapevine might reveal
schools looking out for teachers, or places to avoid!
