The CELTA course covers the following syllabus:

* Teaching Practice
Teaching practice
Teaching practice is an integral part of the course. This is organised in small groups of 5-6 trainees with volunteer students at two or three different levels. After each teaching practice session an evaluation of the session is led by a course tutor. Trainees are expected to liase within their groups outside course hours in order to plan teaching practice classes, according to guidelines provided by course tutors.
Course design
Our courses are full-time over four weeks and have a minimum of 120 contact hours, plus a further 80 hours plus for required outside of classtime tasks, including assignments and lesson planning.
Sessions are held Monday to Friday between 11.00 am and 7.00 pm including teaching practice.
A typical day on the course is as follows, although there are sometimes variations:

Assessment and certificates
Trainees are continuously assessed in all the syllabus areas, including written assignments, and with particular emphasis on their teaching ability and potential. At the end of the course successful candidates receive the Cambridge Certificate and a Progress Report.
Entry requirements
Candidates must be at least 18 years old at the start of the course. They must have a standard of education which would allow entrance to higher education in their country. They must have an awareness of language, and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course. They must also have the potential to develop into effective teachers.
Accommodation Options
Host Family
Stay with a Colombian host family, who normally provide you with single rooms although if you want to stay with a friend or relative you can also share bedrooms. Host family accommodation is offered on a bed and breakfast basis although you can also choose half board (includes evening meal).
The school can also provide you with contact details for hotels, hostels and furnished apartments near the school.
School Details - Bogota Central
IH Bogota is one of the newest members of the International House World organisation.
The school is located in a lovely old building in the heart of the historical district of La Candelaria (shown, left, the patio). Apart from reception and offices, the school has 12 spacious classrooms and a study room with computers that students can use before or after class.
IH Bogota has been set up in collaboration with International House Barcelona (Spain).
Bogota
Located in the centre of the country at an altitude of approximately 2,600 metres, Bogota enjoys an almost perfect climate with average temperatures varying from 9 to 23 degrees centigrade.
The city has a population of around 8 million and is divided into a number of different areas including the historic centre 'La Candelaria', the downtown business district and several modern and prosperous suburbs.
Getting around is relatively easy and inexpensive thanks to the city's innovative TransMilenio metro-bus service. There are too many things to do and see in the city to list here but among the highlights are the colonial style buildings of La Candelaria; the Gold Museum with its unique collection of pre-Colombian gold work; the view from the Monastery of Monserrate which overlooks the city and the Botanic gardens which is like a miniature national park.
