Course Description
Who is the CELTA for?
If you have little or no previous teaching experience or you do not have a formal teaching qualification, then CELTA could be the course you are looking for.
The school offers one of the world's foremost initial qualifications for people who wish to become professional teachers of English language. It is accepted throughout the world by organisations which employ English language teachers.
How it works
The four week intensive course provides an introduction to teaching methods, language analysis, phonology and classroom techniques.
It includes input sessions, observations of experienced teachers, observed teaching practice and written assignments.
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and focuses on participation, performance in teaching practice and feedback and written assignments.
Each CELTA course is checked and approved by an external assessor appointed by UCLES to ensure consistent high standards.
Can you take this course?
You will need to have the competence of a native speaker in written and spoken English, and a tertiary level education. To be accepted on the course you are required to complete pre-course tasks and a group or telephone interview. It is important to note that this is a very demanding course that requires full-time commitment for the four week duration.
Places are extremely limited on these courses, so please ensure you submit your application in good time.
Can you cancel your participation?
Cancellations made in writing up to thirty days before the course starts will be refunded in full, minus the deposit. Cancellations made in writing less than thirty days and more than seven days before the course starts will get a 50% refund, minus the deposit
Cancellations made less than seven days before the start receive no refund
The school reserves the right to cancel the course two months prior to its commencement if fewer than eight trainees have registered.

School Details - Medellin International
This centre has been running as a teaching centre for 65 years. It is a Bi-National Centre which runs different social, academic and cultural projects with the help of private, public, and government funding as well as its regular EFL classes. Its main site is a ten-storey building which houses 53 classrooms, an art gallery, two movie theatres, a library with a vast collection of written and audio-visual materials in English, a digital room with 20 computers and internet connection, a Multimedia Room with 16 computers and internet connection, a Resource Room for teachers as well as a Lounge and kitchenette for teachers. The entire site has free Wi-Fi for all of its users as well as a small cafeteria on the second floor for snacks and a larger restaurant located on the tenth floor which serves lunch and dinner.
In the six different sites belonging to this centre located around the city, approximately 5,000 students take English classes at some time during the week, including Saturdays. There are three main programs that are run at these sites: The Program for Children, The Youth Program, and the Adult Program. For both the Children and Youth Programs, these are after-school classes that are held during the week at 4 p.m. or on Saturday. In the Adult Program, classes are held at different time slots during the week, with groups meeting at least twice a week or every day depending on the modality. The Children and Youth Program make up the largest amount of students at the Colombo, with roughly 3,000 students studying during the semester, while the number of students in the Adult Program ranges from month to month from 1,700 to 2,300 students. Additional to these students, the centre also offers a corporate program where our teachers are sent to different companies in the city to give English classes to their employees on site.
The centre's main site is conveniently located in the downtown area of Medellin, close to a number of bus routes and the local Metro service. Variety is evident in the different restaurants that are nearby the site, as well as the bars and small nightclubs that can also be found. The area is safe to walk around, but do be cautious not to flash about expensive jewellery, gadgets (mobile phones), or large quantities of money. The Colombo is a hub of activity in the city centre and will regularly put on jazz concerts or art exhibits outside the site, impacting the surrounding area with culture and music.
