Course Description
The Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a teaching qualification which will enable you to teach English to people whose first language is not English. If you seriously want to become an ESOL teacher and look for international job opportunities, you need a recognised qualification validated by an international examinations board. The Trinity Certificate in TESOL is one of the worlds most respected and sought after initial qualifications in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
The Trinity CertTESOL is accredited at Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework (the NQF) by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) in England. Level 5 is regarded as comparable in difficulty to the second year of an undergraduate degree, or to postgraduate degree programmes offered in the UK.
Unit 1: Teaching Skills, including six hours of teaching with real learners
Unit 2: Language Awareness, including grammar and phonology
Unit 3: Learner Profile, the preparation of a simple linguistic profile and needs analysis, including some basic phonemic transcription, of a single learner; the planning of, and reflection on, a one-to-one lesson and the preparation of recommendations for the learner’s future language development
Unit 4: Materials Assignment, written rationale for the development of two pieces of teaching material; written evaluation of use of these in classroom teaching; interview with a Trinity moderator to discuss the above and the ways in which materials development is beneficial to the development of teaching skills
Unit 5: Unknown Language, a journal covering reflective comments of four hours’ tuition in an unknown language from the point of view of the beginner, including an analysis of the key aspects of methods and classroom management that affect the learner positively and negatively

Hong Kong
As the Lonely Planet says, this entrepreneurial, irrepressible city means different things to different people. For some it is the view from the Peak by day or Hong Kong Island's skyline by nights as the skyscrapers flush their neon rainbows, competing like tetchy cuttlefish to out-display each other. It can be about a lingering morning of tea and bite-sized dim sum, or a multidish Chinese banquet. Others hikers, birders, climbers say nothing beats the Hong Kong countryside for its beauty, facilities and accessibility.
It is all these things, of course, a city of teeming streets and empty wilderness, dazzling modernity and traditional observances. Brash, buccaneering and Westernised, yet conservatively minded and Chinese to its core, Hong Kong surprises, delights and confounds with its cheerful contradictions and energetic inconsistency.
