Customer Feedback

The course was extremely useful and enjoyable. The trainer was very passionate and knowledgeable. Her extensive experience was evident which made the course all the more interesting and relevant.

Margaret Lee

I felt the course was intense but very straight to the point. The content and context provided enough information and activities to allow a newcomer to have the confidence to teach a class.

Fumi Sofidiya

The course was very intense but well organised - a lot to learn in a short space of time but the teacher explained everything well and made sure we were prepared.

Hollie Morgan

The course I attended was a 3 day course and was the 3 most organised 3 days I think I ever experienced, in the classroom!. I enjoyed doing the course immensely and got so much out of it, I put it all down to the trainer, who was of the highest calibre. I will be recommending this course to friends and family, most definitely.

Course Description

Who is a 3 day TEFL training course for?

People starting a career in English Language teaching
You may be considering a career in English Language teaching and view a 3 day TEFL course as an entry into a teaching position in another country, or you may be a graduate wanting a qualification that provides a basis in the fundamentals of language teaching practice and gives you the confidence to take control in the classroom.

People looking for a career change or career break
Increasingly, TEFL training course candidates are professionals either looking for a new career opportunity or wanting a short break in their existing career. Many seek the exciting opportunities of living and working abroad. Whether you wish to teach English for the short or long term, 3 day TEFL training courses give you the training you need to help you adjust to a dynamic and challenging new profession.

People teaching English without formal qualifications
A 3 day TEFL training course can also be a useful qualification for teachers who have little previous formal training. A 3 day TEFL training course sharpens your teaching practice, confirms your ability, and may even lead to internal promotion or a better teaching job.

People who want to work in Further, Adult and Community Education in England and Wales
A 3 day TEFL training course is a good starting point and a good basis for working in this area.

What does the course involve?
A 3 day TEFL training course :

. teaches you the principles of effective teaching

. provides a range of practical skills for teaching English to adult learners

. gives you hands-on teaching practice

. builds your confidence.

There are five main units of learning:
. Learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context

. Language analysis and awareness

. Language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing

. Planning and resources for different contexts

. Developing teaching skills and professionalism.
You will be assessed throughout the course, with no final examination.

Teaching practice Students will teach, and observe other students teaching for a total of six hours, using fellow students in place of real EFL students.

What is the actual format of the course?
3 day TEFL training courses are run over three week days - Monday to Wednesday.

The courses are held in university/college classrooms. Venues are centrally located, and easily accessable by public transport and car. Parking is free of charge or low priced.

There are a maximum of 14 students on each course. The course provider is keen to ensure that their students receive the best possible training and this can only be achieved with small class sizes.

There is at least one trainer on each course, while on some courses we use two or more trainers - often when we are training new trainers.

The course is split into modules, all which must be attended to gain certification. Full details of what is in each module can be viewed here.

The course is a mixture of lectures, free activities, controlled activities, teaching preparation and practice and role play. We aim to keep TTT (Teacher Talk Time) to a minimum since this is the most effective way of students learning a great deal in a short period of time and this is one of rules of teaching when you become an EFL teacher.

Tea and coffees are served throughout the course, with lunches being available either onsite or close by.

Entry requirements
Applicants must be at least 16. It is generally recommended that students should be aged 18 or over, but students aged between 16 and 18 can be accepted at the course provider's discretion.

Applicants must have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to undertake the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels.

Applicants must have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers, attend all modules of the course and successfully complete the teaching practice.
