Course Description
Part-time Trinity accredited TESOL Course
Maybe you've been working in the same job for a few years and are looking for a change of direction? Or perhaps you're just looking for exciting new challenges and opportunities? Well our 12-week, part-time course is the ideal stepping stone for a new career in teaching.
The part-time Trinity accredited TESOL Course covers exactly the same material as our highly respected full-time course. The only differences are that the course runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and every Saturday between 9-3pm (with an additional guided planning session after that, from 3-5pm).
Week One
This is an exciting week when we're all first getting to know each other. It's full of new experiences for everyone so relax, get rid of our inhibitions and enjoy yourself.
During the first week of the course we will cover the basics of English language teaching methodology. Your teaching practice doesn't start until week two of the course, and so on Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as Saturday, we will spend time doing practical workshops and preparing you for your first teaching experience!
Weeks 2-12
From week 2 onwards Tuesdays and Thursdays will be devoted to your Teaching Practice. Having covered the basics of language teaching we will ask you to try out some of the things you've learned on real students. You'll start by doing four 30-minute lessons. You will have time to plan your lessons in the days between teaching days. After that you will complete four 60-mnute lessons. All of your lessons will be observed and assessed by an experienced teaching practice tutor, and you will receive verbal and written feedback. In total you will do six hours of assessed language teaching to real students.
Input during weeks 2-12 will be delivered on Saturdays (9-3, and 3-5). And the final Saturday will be devoted to moderation day, when an assessor will come from Trinity College London to look over your work, interview you, and discuss some of your work with you.
Written Work
You will also be given four written assignments on the course: a) the Language Learner Profile, b) The Unknown Natural Language report, c) ongoing Teaching Practice Evaluation, and d) a Materials Assignment.
These vary in length from 1,000 to 3,000 words. But once again: don't panic. We'll give you loads of support and guidance.
Finally (phew!) you'll have a take-home exam towards the end of the course. It's designed to help you bring together all the strands of the course.
Mystery Language
You'll also receive four hours of instruction in a language that's completely unknown to you. Why? Because there's no better way for you to experience how your future students will sometimes feel. Vulnerable. Baffled. And excluded. Bless them.
Accommodation Options
Once you've found a great place to study in London, you may also need to find a great place to live. We can help with any type of accommodation from one star to five star (but generally recommend something in-between). Here's just a few of the options currently on offer:

School Details - London Bloomsbury Square
The school is located in a handsome 5-storey Georgian townhouse on London's elegant Bloomsbury Square. With the British Museum just a stone' throw away to the west and Faber & Faber almost next door, the school couldn't be more in the heart of literary London.
The building has been beautifully restored to provide eight light and airy classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids such as interactive white-boards. Classrooms either overlook the green and leafy square to the front or The Duke of Bedford's private gardens to the rear.
Students have free use of an Info Lab equipped with eight laptops connected to super-fast broadband. There's a library of reference books divided between set texts on language teaching and guides to travelling the world and getting work abroad. The school also stocks the full range of course books with discounts on normal prices.
Finally, students can make use of the private garden to the rear or relax in the square at the front. Or they can join in the school's social programme, which includes regular bowling nights to London's trendy All Star Lanes, just 2 minutes walk from the school.
