Course Description

This course combines 3 elements offered by the school in order to give a comprehensive training course to fully prepare you for a career in TEFL. The course will have 3 different start dates for each part of the course:

Special Certificate Language for English Teaching (LET):
Starts on 20th September 2012 and runs part time Thursday evenings until 6th December 2012.
The best teachers have a comprehensive knowledge of their subject. The LET Special Certificate provides 100 hours of teaching and guided study, so you have a confident knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation before you start teaching. Unlike other language courses, the LET Special Certificate allows you to interact with real EFL learners and understand learner English.

Special Certificate Methodology for English Language Teaching (MELT):
Starts on 17th January 2013 and runs part time Thursday evenings 4th April 2013.
This course provides 120 hours of teaching and guided study. It presents teaching methods including how course books work, how to plan classes and basic techniques. It also reinforces the knowledge of language you learnt on LET. Unlike online courses, you get real experience in the classroom as you attend and take part in real EFL classes alongside the normal lectures. With the support of experienced teachers, you can practise skills and match theory to reality.

Special Certificate Teaching English as a Foreign Language (CTEFL):
Starts on 1st July 2013 and runs full time until 20th July 2013.
This is a full-time four-week teaching practice course with genuine, paying EFL students. As well as teaching the course covers other aspects of the job not usually covered in CELTA and similar courses, such as placement testing, lesson planning and marking homework. You will receive full support from experienced trainers and you will also have chance to teach in teams and do unobserved teaching to allow you to develop without the pressure of assessment. The focus is entirely on practical skills and employability.

Maximum class size
24 for lectures / workshops
8 for online groups
6 for observations / teaching practice
