There are two parts to the Cactus TEFL/TESOL Online Course
Part 1: English Language Awareness
This first part of the course introduces you to how language works. In 30 units, you'll learn about the key items of grammar, the main aspects of vocabulary and you'll also study the basics of pronunciation. As well as completing 'lessons' with explanations and exercises, you also watch video clips from real classrooms to see the theory in action. Throughout, you can use the online forum to ask a tutor questions and to network with other trainee teachers.
Part 2: English Language Methodology
Having completed part 1 of the course, you're ready to start the second part of the course which looks at English Language Methodology. As with English Language Awareness in Part 1, you complete 30 lessons in total. Each lesson focuses on a particular area of TEFL and is taught through a combination of reading, exercises, videos of teachers and students in the classroom and online discussion with a tutor and other people on the course. The English Language Methodology component of this course takes longer than part 1 because you also submit five assignments which receive feedback from a tutor.
How long does the course take?
You can work at your own pace either choosing to work intensively or using the maximum subscription time of 135 days (45 days for Part 1 and 90 days for Part 2).
Why take a TEFL/TESOL course online?
Training online is a great way to give yourself plenty of time and flexibility in your learning. It's cheaper than face-to-face courses and allows you to study from home without taking time out from your current job or commitments.

Help for Jobs
We recommend that you decide where in the world you would like to go and do some internet research. The country equivalent of the Yellow Pages is also a good starting point, this way you can find how many language schools there are in your chosen destination and contact the school directly. A general rule of thumb is to try and avoid the bigger cities, where everyone else is likely to head for.
