Customer Feedback

The school and the quality of trainers were excellent, on all counts. The course was fantastic, great structure - as I'd expect from Cambridge. The destination was ideal, that's why I wanted to take the course abroad. What I enjoyed most about my course was observing other teachers and tutors in the classroom. Extremely helpful to a trainee's development.

What I enjoyed most in my was probably TP - Teaching Practice. Standing in front of a class for the first time can be quite intimidating but I sincerely enjoyed it from day one and in the end it's probably the best way to learn how to make it better next time or in the future.
-Susanne Degenkolb-

The School was great, the staff and admin were very helpful and the trainers were inspiring and very very very friendly and resourceful. The course was intense, but definitely provided enough practice and theory. Highly recommended!
-Joanna Kallis-

Barcelona is a great city to do the course in. The trainers were excellent. They were very helpful and provided us with a lot of information. What I liked most was the teaching practice. It was great to work with real students.

Course Description

Like the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), the Young Learners course is a very practical course giving teachers the skills and the experience to work with younger learners with confidence. Methodology and Language Analysis sessions are firmly linked to classroom practice, while Teaching Practice takes place from Day One.

The CELT YL (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners) course is a 60-hour extension course specifically designed for CELTA qualified teachers who wish to extend their knowledge of teaching Young Learners and it is programmed as a full time, intensive course.

The course is based on teaching practice and lesson evaluation, and is extremely practical in content and approach.
The programme comprises 30 hours of seminars and workshops and 30 hours of teaching practice, teaching practice feedback and assisted lesson preparation.

Endorsement & certificates The course is designed for teachers with the Cambridge CELTA, with some post-CELTA teaching experience.
Eligible candidates receive an Endorsement to their CELTA awards from Cambridge and a Progress Report.

Please note In order to receive the official Cambridge CELTYL Extension Certificate you must have passed CELTA prior to taking this course.
You can, however, take the course without having done CELTA (assuming that you are otherwise qualified for it) and will receive a certificate on passing it, but you will not be eligible for the Cambridge certificate.

School Details - Barcelona Plaza Catalunya

Barcelona

Barcelona will go down in history as an essential all-time experience. Different people will be seduced by different things, so take your picks will it be the almost arrogant individuality of a city with its own language and history, the effortless juxtaposition of Gothic and Renaissance, Byzantine and Romanesque, the dangerously inviting boutiques, or quite simply that old Spanish knack of bringing out lazy, sangria-filled lunches under a hot Mediterranean sun? Quintessentially Spanish yet unique in so many ways, make of Barcelona what you will. But whatever your vice, don't fight it - because you can be sure nobody else is.

Help for Jobs

Helping you find work
Taking the internationally recognised CELTA certificate at our centre will automatically open doors for you all over the world. We have been training people on CELTA courses here for over 30 years. According to an independent survey taken at our centre, we found that 20% of trainees who take the course here are offered work before they have finished the course, whilst 70% of trainees find work within 4 weeks of finishing the course!
Once accepted onto the course, you automatically join our on-line jobs forum, where we put all the job adverts we receive. This means that, even after finishing the course, you are always up to date with job offers. Since January 2008 we received over 150 job adverts for Spain and the rest of the world!
During the course, the Head of the Teacher Training department gives a session on writing cvs, interviews, how and where to find work, what to look for etc. As the demand for CELTA trained teachers increases, we have found that many of our trainees also find work at our school which is right in the centre of Barcelona, or in our other schools in the Barcelona and Catalonia area. Our school is part of a huge, dynamic World wide web of schools, which has centres in amongst other places Argentina, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam and South Africa. If you apply to one of these schools in the world organisation, we can organise an interview right here in Barcelona. Once you have taken the CELTA with us, you will never be short of job opportunities!
