Customer Feedback
I was pleased with the course, it was geared towards getting a job after completion, which suited me, it was also very concise.
Other good points were the school's location and the thoroughness of the trainers, however what I liked most was the relaxed atmosphere of the course.
-Thomas Jones-
The trainer provided some very fun and interesting classes that not only insued quick learning but introduced some great teaching techniques. The course was fulfilling and I am satisfied with the content and running of the course. The most enjoyable part of the course was teaching in front of the beginners. This was a challenge but satisfying nontheless.

Course Description
Course Description
In its over 20 years of experience, the school has worked with thousands of satisfied students who enjoy its approach to teaching language. The school put that experience to work for you in the TEFL training program, an intensive month-long, 120-hour course that has six hours of practice-teaching time and six hours of observation time. As a graduate of the TEFL program, you'll come away from the course with a concept of the practical side of ESL/EFL instruction.
Goals
- At least 6 hours of observation of classes taught by experienced professionals
- At least 6 hours of practice teaching with real language learners from the local community
- Trainers who will guide you through every step of the way including observing your peer teaching and practice teaching
- Instruction and practice in teaching the four basic language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and subskills (vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar)
- An introduction to classroom management, including such issues as error correction and giving instructions
- Instruction in how to prepare formal classroom lessons, as well as what games, activities, and songs are appropriate and effective
- How to use DVDs in the classroom, the latest in computer software for TEFL, and what e-learning is all about
- An introduction to TEFL testing so that you are familiar with the TOEFL, TOEIC, University of Michigan Tests, and others
- An introduction to teaching Business English, a very critical (and often lucrative) area of major interest to many students in today's market
- An introduction to the fascinating world of intercultural relations and how culture can affect language acquisition
- Professional development guidance and active assistance in job searching and job placement.
Requirements
In order to complete the training and meet the course requirements, trainees must:
- Attend the entire course
- Complete a minimum of six hours of practice teaching
- Complete a minimum of six hours of observation of experienced teachers
- Maintain and submit a portfolio of all written assignments and materials related to practice teaching
Assessment
There are no final tests in the TEFL. Throughout the course, trainers continuously assess trainees in the two major components of their work:
- Practice teaching and lesson planning
- Written assignments
Over the course of the program, each trainee will prepare lesson plans for, and teach, a minimum of six hours of classes with real language learners. These classes are observed both by trainers and fellow trainees; the trainers' evaluations constitute part of the final grade.
There are a total of two graded written assignments, each normally being between around 1000 words long. The topics for these papers include language awareness and professional development.
Evaluation and Training Report
Upon the completion of the program, the training staff will issue you an evaluation and training report that will outline your accomplishments during the TEFL training and your potential for teaching in the TEFL field. This may be included on your resume for future employment references.
TEFL Admission Requirements
All applicants to the TEFL course must:
- be at least 20 years of age by completion of the course (18- and 19-year-olds are accepted at the center's discretion)
- have competence in both spoken and written English, such that it permits them to follow the training with no problems (non-native speakers must cmmunicate in English with few or no mistakes, have a level of fluency roughly equal to a score of 280 on the computer-based TOEFL, and have an oral interview with a member of the admissions staff before enrolling)
- have a standard of education equivalent of that required for entry into higher education.
No previous teaching experience is required.
Accommodation Options
Host Families
All host families are middle-class, many are single-parent households, and they may have no children, young children, or adult children living at home. All host families live in attractive homes in safe neighborhoods. Distances from the schools vary from a few-minute walk to a 30-minute bus ride, depending on the size of the city. In your host family's home, you will have your own bedroom and either a shared or private bathroom. You will be given a key to the house or apartment and are free to come and go as you please. However, as a guest living with a host family, you should be sure to respect the routine of the people you are staying with.
$860USD for 28 days.
There is a one-off USD 40 accommodation booking fee.
Student residence
Trainees also have the option to stay in a hostel (depending on availability) at a cost of US$680. for 28 days. A $40 booking fee would also apply.
Shared apartment
A further option for trainees is to stay in a shared apartment with a local resident. Shared apartments are ideal for trainees who want to live with local people, but who prefer to maintain more autonomy than in a host family. In a shared apartment, you will have your own bedroom, but you will generally share a bathroom and a kitchen. Meals aren't included as they usually would be with a host family, but you can prepare your own food in the communal kitchen. The price is $560 for 28 days.
Please note that a USD40 booking fee applies.
An airport transfer is available at an extra fee (approx 50$).
School Details - Buenos Aires - Puerto Madero
The Training Center
Completely renovated in 2004, modern training center in Buenos Aires offers first-class facilities in a brand-new building. There are three fully equipped classrooms for the use of TEFL classes, as well as access to the computer and Internet for our trainees. The center is located in Puerto Madero, a waterfront district considered to be one of the most fashionable areas of the city. Within walking distance are the many restaurants, bars, and cafés that make Puerto Madero popular with tourists and locals alike. For trips further afield, there is excellent public transportation near the school, including trains, subways, buses, and even ferries to neighboring Uruguay.
Buenos Aires
Argentina may have been in the news most recently for its troubled economy, but despite nursing a slightly bruised ego it still boasts a vibrant and cosmopolitan capital city. Lying on the estuary of the RÃo de la Plata, Buenos Aires is home to some 13 million people and is decidedly more European than South American in flavour. Its heart, or microcentro, throbs with stylish shops, elegant restaurants and quaint cafe's, with bustling streets and grand boulevards leading out to a total of 48 barrios, or neighbourhoods. By day it's a display of colonial buildings and faded architecture but by night the air is filled with the sultry rhythms of tango and the sound of many a bar opening its door to a fashionable, and fashionably late, crowd.
Please note
Please note that as of 28th December 2009, citizens of the US, Canada and Australia will be subject to an entry fee to be paid at the airport in US dollars or Argentinean pesos.
The fee for American visitors will have a cost of USD131.00 and will be valid for 10 years, while Australians and Canadians will pay, respectively, 100 and 70 dollars each time they come to Argentina.
