The teachers were excellent at presenting and explaining teaching methods.
I've plenty of ideas to digest before using it with my students.

Course Description

The Course

The school in Dublin offers Cambridge CELTA courses throughout the whole year. The courses are intensive and consist of 120 hours of training, including input sessions, observation and teaching practice. Course participants have access to the school's World Recruitment Service which recruits teachers for more than 130 centres around the world.

Course Details

The course is focused primarily around learning from the practical experience of preparing lessons and teaching them, followed by reflective consideration and evaluation that will inform future lessons. For this reason, the core element of the CELTA is Teaching Practice. The other main elements are seminar input, observation of experienced teachers and coursework, which includes a component of assessed written work.

Attendance of 100% is required on the course. The Course Tutor has discretion to accept serious reasons for unavoidable absence, but candidates with less than 90% attendance at input sessions cannot pass the course. Valid reasons for absence would include illness, illness of a close family member, bereavement, job interview etc, and must be supported by some documentation, for example, a letter from a prospective employer. Should trainees have a valid reason for missing a TP or lesson observation (supported by documentation), the Course Director will, at her discretion, facilitate rescheduling a TP or observation.

School Details - Dublin

The year round adult school is located on the south side of Dublin within walking distance of the city centre. The Camden Street centre is bright, modern, recently renovated, and a short walk from Saint Stephen's Green and the main shopping area of Dublin.
The school is accredited by the Irish Department of Education and Science as a school for the teaching of English as a foreign language, and are inspected by both ACELS (the Advisory Council for English Language Schools) and International House London.

Dublin
Of all the European hotspots Dublin is one that doesn't have to rely on constant sunshine or sandy beaches. So maybe it rains a bit and maybe the coastline is more suited to hiking than sunbathing…but perhaps it's just this that adds to the whole charm of the place. Situated on Ireland's northeastern coast, Dublin is a little piece of Ireland for you to grab and savour - it can be as chilled out or as fast-paced as you want, as traditional or as modern as you want, even as welcoming or as remote as you want. It plays the glitzy glamour role as well as it plays the history book: funky, modern bars pulsate alongside old stone ruins; shops and art galleries vie for space among wonderful Georgian architecture. But above all it exudes an energy and a vibrancy that will captivate, charm and take a hold of your heart. The soft Irish accent and creamy pints of Guinness are only half the story

Help for Jobs

CELTA trainees at this Dublin centre can avail of the International House World Organisation recruitment services, which posts advertisements for positions in IH schools worldwide. As International House is well-known around the world, language schools from many countries send us details of upcoming positions. Apart from this, some positions become available at the school particularly in the summer and, as our CELTA course is recognised by the Irish Department of Education, other language schools in Ireland also contact us.
