2 weeks Spanish + 4 weeks CELTA + 1 week chill out. For some of these packages the 'chillout' week will fall in between the Spanish and the CELTA course. A chance to explore culture and jobs with a basic knowledge of Spanish before you embark upon your Teacher Training Course.
How will this package benefit me?
You will meet the foreign students in the classes you observe and see experienced teachers in action. This will help to make your teaching practice during CELTA less intimidating and you will probably find it easier to anticipate and deal with students' language problems during teaching practice. If you work hard and dedicate the time, you will learn a lot and pass the Cambridge CELTA course. You will become a confident English teacher, ready to embark on an interesting career.
The Spanish course is 20 hours per week, at any level, in international groups with other language learners. You will benefit from seeing your Spanish teachers in action whilst improving your own Spanish language skills.
In a nutshell
If you work hard and dedicate the time, you will learn a lot and pass the Cambridge CELTA course. You will become a confident English teacher, ready to embark on an interesting career. You will find it much easier to deal with the initial culture shock with some Spanish under your belt and you will feel truelly immersed when you meet the locals during teaching practice. The experience of learning a challenging language will benefit you enormously throughout your teaching career. It will also prove to be a huge assett when taking your first steps on the career ladder.

At the end of each day, an evaluation of the session is led by a course tutor. Trainees are expected to liaise within their groups outside course hours in order to plan teaching practice classes, according to guidelines provided by course tutors.

School Details - Playa del Carmen
This school is in the idyllic location of Playa del Carmen, a small town on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.
Playa del Carmen
Sun, sea, sand and more sand... don't look further than Playa if this is your idea of paradise. It's no surprise that over recent years tourists have begun to flock here, but beach life is still nothing but relaxed and the old Latin philosophy of mañana lives on. Quinta Avenida is the main street and you can happily lose yourself for several hours in shops selling Mexican crafts, amber jewellery, tequila and designer clothes - before being enticed into one of the bars for happy hour. But when all's said and done your main reason for coming to Playa has to be for the beach - so head down here and take your siesta under the warm Caribbean sun.

Help for Jobs
The school offers trainees guidance when looking for jobs through a session about Professional Development and Employment in TESOL, which includes advice on CVs and job interviews once they have successfully completed their course.
The course tutors have contacts throughout Mexico and abroad, and can give advice to CELTA graduates about working in schools around the world. For those interested in staying in the Playa del Carmen area, contacts in local schools can be provided.
The CELTA course in Playa Del Carmen is recognized by SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública), which means that getting a job in Mexico can be a simple process. A large number of CELTA graduates from the school now work in other schools in Mexico; in Mexico City, Queretaro and Monterrey, and for those interested in these options, it is often possible to organize a telephone interview during the final week of the course. Trainees are able to find employment in private language schools, private primary schools, secondary schools and high schools as well as private Universities.
