Customer Feedback
If you are serious about wanting to teach then you must come here to do your CELTA. I'd never taught before and had no real concept of how much there is to consider, but the tutors are amazing, they are professional, passionate, dedicated and really motivate you to achieve the full potential.
-Ali Griffiths-
It's so crazy in here but I'm loving it. My brain is so packed with new ideas and I can't wait to share them with you. I'm sure that if CELTA was obligatory during English philology our lives would be so much easier!
-Anna Miklas-
Let's not hide the truthÃÂ
CELTA is hard work and is intensive, so be fully prepared for long days and nights and not much of a weekend either! But this is offset by top quality tutoring, essential teaching practice and outstanding feedback. I thoroughly recommend the experience!
-Graham Roberts-
An outstanding experience! Professionalism and hands-on teaching practice. Self discovery and self-realisation. Definitely challenging and worthwhile!
-Gozde Ozgen-
This has been a very practical learning teaching course. I'm really grateful for the support I've got.

Course Description
The Cambridge CELTA is the most widely recognised initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience wishing to follow a career in TEFL. Because it is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part of the world-famous University of Cambridge, its quality and recognition are high. Over 10,000 people successfully complete a CELTA course each year worldwide.
The syllabus, grading criteria and other aspects of the course are all set by the University of Cambridge ESOL, which is ultimately responsible for its validation and certification. Each CELTA course is moderated by an external assessor to ensure that the required standards are maintained.
CELTA is a highly practical course which provides training in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language to adults. It aims at laying a firm foundation on which a teacher can usefully build with experience. It deals with levels from Beginners/Elementary to Late Intermediate (Cambridge First Certificate).
The course presents a view of the principles underlying language teaching and deals extensively with the analysis of English from a learner's perspective. Activities to develop language skills, the presentation of new language items, techniques of practice, the role of audio and video materials, syllabus design and timetabling are all analysed on the course. A student-centred and communicative approach is strongly emphasized.
Teaching practice is a major component of the Certificate course and takes place every morning. Trainees work in Teaching Practice groups up to 5 people in each team each with a supervising tutor. Each trainee teaches a total of six hours over the course (slots of 20 mins, 40 mins or 60 mins taught on regular basis starting from day two). Initially trainees receive full guidance in planning their lesson which is gradually reduced as the course continues. After each teaching practice session, the lessons are discussed with the tutor. Trainees work with two different levels of students on the course.
Observation of practising teachers is an intrinsic part of each CELTA course. Each trainee observes a total of 6 hours of experienced teachers with their regular classes (this may include 2 hours of guided observation of lessons on video). These observations are meant to give you a taste of what happens in a real EFL classroom and allow you to see a variety of teaching styles.
Accommodation Options
The school can put you in touch with an Accommodation Officer who will help provide a range of single room or shared accommodation options for the duration of the course with cost in the range of 1100 PLN to 1450 PLN for four weeks per person, depending on room type.
The flats are fully furnished in luxurious style and located very close to the centre of Krakow. Each trainee can stay in a single bedroom (or if preferred, for a lower cost, a shared larger bedroom) - the kitchen and bathroom are shared. All rooms have broadband wi-fi. There is a 24/7 English-speaking reception in the building that deals with all the flats and rooms in the case of any needs or issues arising. Trams stop near the building and transport you daily to the training centre.
If you want the school to make this option available to you, please indicate this in your application. The Accommodation Officer will then contact you with the range of options available, sending you floor plans, photographs of apartments and prices for each type of room. Those requesting accommodation will be asked to pay a deposit of £50 (approx. PLN 250), which is returned on departure providing no damage has been done to the property.
The Accommodation Officer is solely responsible along with the apartment owners for your accommodation needs and you are requested to send all further enquiries to him once you are provided with his contact details, which you will receive having been successfully interviewed and commitment from you to attend the course.
School Details - Krakow
The school is the only centre offering year-round full time CELTA courses in Poland. The training centre is situated in the very heart of Krakow, in the beautiful Market Square with the most amazing views of the old town. While the building is truly historical, the inside and facilities are very modern and include a computer room, interactive white boards, internet access etc.
The courses are run by an experienced Cambridge ESOL-recognised team, who were trained and between them have worked at International House London, IH Palma de Mallorca (Spain), University of Masaryk (Brno, Czech Republic), IH Dublin and IH Krakow (Cracow). They have established a highly successful track-record for conducting CELTA courses in Poland and beyond; their CELTA graduates can be found working in many schools in the region and around the world. Krakow schools also recruit extensively from amongst course graduates, though completion of a course does not guarantee employment.
Their trainees have invariably given highly positive feedback about the style and delivery of the course, emphasizing the trainers' supportiveness, approachability and professionalism.
Courses take place in an environment where the teachers are used to learn and we believe that this atmosphere adds a great deal to our trainees' experience, with teachers in the staffroom understanding the trainees needs and providing appropriate support.
