The trainers were excellent, very friendly and always willing to help with a query even if they were busy. They each had a different style, and reall knew what they were talking about.

I thought the trainers were excellent. They were very knowledgable and professional but always approachable.
The course was very well organised and there was a good balance between theory and practical experience. It was well structured in that you were gradually eased into teaching practice, which I very much enjoyed.

Course Description
General Course Aims
This four week course leads to the award of the Trinity Certificate in TESOL. Along with the RSA Celta, this is the most widely accepted qualification for teachers of EFL/ESOL, with recognition from schools and colleges worldwide and bodies such as the British Council and the QCA. You can anticipate a demanding but enjoyable month, at the end of which you will have the tools and the confidence to take up a first TESOL position either in the UK or abroad.
Successful trainees will be able to demonstrate the following on completion of the course:
-Knowledge of the main phonological, lexical and syntactic features of contemporary English
-Ability to create and maintain interest and motivate your learners
-Ability to prepare your lessons with recognizable and achievable aims
-Ability to evaluate and adapt up to date published materials and create your own simple teaching aids
-Broad understanding of the main advantages and disadvantages of various language teaching approaches
-Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of your own teaching
-Awareness of how your career might develop after the course
The course consists of four weeks of daily input sessions. School days generally last from 09.30 until 17.00, Monday to Friday, although some courses may be completed on slightly different hours. Additionally, there are course assignments, which will need to be completed at home in the evening and at weekends.
As this indicates, the course is extremely demanding and challenging.
However, the vast majority of trainees find the overall experience to be a rewarding and exhilarating one. Owing to the admissions requirements outlined below, we anticipate that the vast majority of trainees will successfully complete the course and gain the certificate. However, failure to meet the criteria as laid out at the start of the course will results in a fail grade
Course Contents
The course consists of several different components:
Input sessions with course tutors These take place during the morning and will examine both theoretical and practical aspects of EFL teaching, introducing techniques that can be applied to your own lessons. There will also be slots dedicated to the study of grammar, pronunciation and other aspects of the English language.
Teaching Practice
Each trainee completes a minimum of six hours supervised classroom teaching. Classes consist of a minimum of six people and are composed of multi-lingual students already enrolled in the school who attend on a 'Free Lesson' basis. Generally we will be able to offer more teaching slots to interested trainees.
Observations
You will be required to observe several lessons taught at the School in order to further trainee's ability to assess teacher performance. There are also opportunities to observe lessons prior to the commencement of the course.
Unknown Language Training
You will spend four hours learning an unknown language during the course to help you appreciate the problems faced by learners and encourage you to analyze your own reactions to the experience.
Learner Profile
You will spend several hours interviewing, teaching and analyzing the language capabilities and study style of a student on a one to one basis.
Written assignments
You will be asked to complete a series of journals relating to the components above to help you analyze and reflect upon them.
