The school is the most wonderful place - a truly beautiful building with a constant buzz about it. It really made it a pleasure to turn up there every day. The trainers were consistently professional, supportive, encouraging and approachable as people, as were the majority of other teaching staff at the school, who were usually more than willing to help out the lost CELTA!

The course has been invaluable as a "rough guide to teaching". The vast majority of input sessions were useful in a practical sense, while being enjoyable at the same time. I feel all aspects of teaching have been touched upon, and it really seems that the more you put in to the course, the more you can get out of it. Furthermore, the course encourages you to go on and start teaching "in the real world"... making you proud of what you've achieved in the four weeks.

TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Taster Day with REGENT

Bored with your job; looking for some purpose to your gap year; want to travel before settling down; children left home; want to relocate?

Teaching English as a Foreign Language will fulfil all these needs. You’ll have some of the best experiences of your life and make great friends.

A Taster Day at Regent allows you to experience what TEFL is all about. More importantly you can find out if TEFL is the right choice for you by meeting our students and experienced teacher trainers. The cost of the day is just £65!. At the end of the day you'll receive a certificate to say that you have attended the course and a £50 voucher which is redeemable against any Regent Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL course.


TASTER DAY PROGRAMME

09.30 - 10.00am - ICEBREAKERS: A fun start to the day with practical classroom activities guaranteed to build rapport.

10.00am - 10.30am - INTRODUCTION TO CELTA / CertTESOL: A short presentation about what doing a CELTA / CertTESOL at Regent London involves.

10.30am - 11.00am - FOREIGN LANGUAGE LESSON: Experience what it’s like to be a language learner and see your tutor demonstrate current classroom techniques.

11.00am - 11.15am - TEA / COFFEE BREAK in the Regent Cafe

11.15am - 11.45am - CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT: How do they do it? Find out how to be in charge of your classroom!

11.45am - 12.30pm - ENGLISH LANGUAGE SYSTEMS: How to approach teaching English grammar - very useful for those CELTA / Cert-TESOL application forms and interviews.

12.30pm - 1.30pm LUNCH BREAK - Get a tasty snack from one of the many nearby shops or restaurants.

1.30pm - 2.00pm - TEACHING PREPARATION: Your tutor will give you valuable guidance on what and how to teach.

2.00pm - 3.00pm - TEACHING PRACTICE: Experience for yourself first hand what it's like to teach with your tutor on hand to give guidance and support.

3.00pm - 3.15pm - TEA / COFFEE BREAK in the Regent Cafe

3.15pm onwards - JOBS SLOT: An outline of job and career opportunities in the UK and abroad, general questions and answers.

At the end of the day all participants are presented with a Regent Certificate and a redeemable voucher.

Please note the Regent Taster Day Certificate IS NOT a replacement for the CELTA or CertTESOL certificates.

School Details - Charing Cross

The school is located a couple of minutes from the Strand and the Thames, round the corner from Embankment and Charing Cross Station. two minutes walk from Trafalgar square. Situated in a quiet road, it's nevertheless close to shops and cafes for that all important energy intake. The school has been completely modernised and is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. It has a multimedia computer centre, a modern language laboratory, a study centre and a student café. The 22 classrooms are bright, airy and welcoming. Teacher training is headed by Clare Hewitt. and the whole team is accesible, supportive, communicative and welcoming.

Help for Jobs

You will get a lot of advice from the trainers to help you find a job. We dedicate a whole session towards the end of the course to finding jobs and looking at different career paths you can follow with your CELTA. We also look at difficult interview questions as well as questions you should ask potential employers.
We receive a lot of information from schools looking for teachers, including China, Vietnam, Prague and many more. In addition, this school belongs to a large group of schools, including summer centres, business centres and schools here and abroad, which are keen to employ trainees from our CELTA courses.
