Course Description
The school employs course trainers who are not only expert teacher trainers, but have also taught English in a variety of situations. This makes them especially effective in sharing strategies and tactics that work in the classroom. They go beyond educational theory and train you in what really works. In addition to the usual suspects (primary, elementary, high school and university students), our trainers have taught: corporate executives, hospitality staffs in resorts and restaurants and students all over Asia and America.
Our course is a Thai government approved 80-hour TEFL certifcate course plus 40 additional hours of extra training totaling 120 hours over 4 weeks. Course days are Monday-Friday, and weekends are free time. The course meets for six hours each day, with a variable schedule to accommodate classroom teaching and observation.
The course is designed to give you both competence and confidence. Although not required, we encourage you to participate in as many student teaching hours as possible....our students who take advantage of this in-depth educational opportunity are far and away the best applicants for the Asian job market. So we urge and encourage you to participate in this free of charge extra addition to the course.
The course has 4 modules:
Core:
Language Awareness (40 hours) � breaking down the nuts and bolts of English and learning what and how to teach.
Teaching Methodology (40 hours) � strategies and techniques of efective language teaching, including lesson planning, the four skills, working with kids, etc.
Some of the methodology time can be with real students depending on the schedule of the individual course.
Additional:
Practice Teaching & Observation (20 hours) � with real students and with real lesson plans so you can learn by doing.
Thai Language and Culture (20 hours) � which helps put you in the mindset of a language learner � this is extraordinarily helpful as you begin to teach. The cultural portion is applicable to teaching applicants throughout Asia.
In this course, you'll spend 20 hours either observing or teaching actual students in a variety of situations including schools, businesses, private tutoring and elsewhere. You'll be over the first day jitters when you begin your job, and your teaching job will be better and easier from day one.
Accommodation Options
The school has a range of accommodation options to suit every taste and budget. As the courses are held in Surin, the school can offer a wide range of tourist-type housing options including guesthouses, private bungalows, small houses, budget rooms at the school (which are your best value) or lodging at 4 or 5-star properties.
All of the rooms are within a 15-minute walk from the school and beach.
Accommodation options:
School Rooms: $200
The rooms are clean and spacious, and feature AC, a shared TV/lounge, wifi, and hot water. Bathrooms are shared. The school rooms are also very convenient, as they are directly adjacent to the TEFL classroom. There is a shared basic kitchenette, which has a fridge, microwave, hot water boiler, etc. A weekly cleaning service is provided at no extra charge.
Student apartments: $360 and $420
Student apartments are modern and clean, located in quiet residential neighborhoods 500m to 1.5km from the school.
All apartments feature AC, private bath, TV, fridge, hot water, and weekly cleaning and linen changes. Utilities are included in the price. Apartments are occupied by other students, so people enjoy the camaraderie and sense of community afforded by these options.
School Details - Phuket Surin Beach
Teaching in Thailand is truly different � a much less stressful and more peaceful way to live.
The TEFL training facility is a short walk from one of the best beaches on the island of Phuket, and only a quick ride to Patong, the most famous resort in Southeast Asia. Study in a quiet atmosphere close to the beach, then hop over to Patong for to enjoy the best of the nightlife!
The building is clean, comfortable and fully air-conditioned. WiFi internet connection is available to all students.
Furthermore, you'll spend your course time at the school only a few minutes from the beach; the food is great, the people are friendly and you'll find teaching an enjoyable way to live in Thailand. To help students, the school provides not only fantastic training, but it will also help with things such as airport pickup, accommodation arrangements, job search guidance, advice, job leads AND lots of little extras to make you feel at home.

The school is located just a few minutes' walk from the beach in a small town on the Andaman side of the island, which is very different to Phuket Town, which is more industrialized, crowded, and without many of the sight-seeing opportunities TEFL students like to enjoy during their course.
