The quality of trainers was extremely high standard. The college had great facilities and resources and the teachers were magnificent, always willing to put in extra work where necessary. Course Description
About the course
The Modular Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) is a twelve-month, part-time course for practising English Language teachers. The course is highly practical and covers the syllabus as laid down by the Cambridge Examinations Syndicate. The course consists of 3 modules:
Delta Module One focuses on the background to teaching and learning.
Delta Module Two focuses on developing professional practice.
Delta Module Three focuses on a specialist option (e.g. Young Learners, ESOL, ESP, 1-1).
Who is the course for?
The new modular Delta is for teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages who are seeking to build on their expertise and are considering furthering their career in English Language Teaching. The course is ideal for teachers who wish to extend their professional experience and accept new responsibilities as it not only demonstrates a commitment to the profession, but also proof of ability. The course aims to prepare teachers for more senior teaching roles and facilitates progression to other qualifications such as MAs in Linguistics and Language Teaching.
Assessment
• Module One is assessed via a written examination.
• Module Two is assessed via a portfolio of coursework, including observed lessons, written assignments, and an externally-assessed lesson observation.
• Module Three is assessed via an extended written assignment.
• 5 observed lessons (4 by course tutors, 1 by an external assessor)
In addition, trainees must observe ten hours of lessons at their own schools or elsewhere. There is a mock exam in April and one unassessed observation at the beginning of the course.
