Course Description

COURSE AIMS
• to improve teachers’ ability to communicate effectively in the primary classroom
• to teach and give instructions in English


COURSE CONTENT
• Reading aloud, giving instructions and explanations, correcting students’ errors
• Understanding authentic English, understanding classroom listening texts
• Correcting students’ written work, writing texts for teaching
• Reading teachers’ resource books, reading articles on teaching

Residential Accommodation is booked from Sunday before the course starts until Saturday after the course finishes.
The service is provided by the University of Brighton in the Meads area of Eastbourne.
The service includes single room with private bathroom, shared cooking facilities in fully equipped kitchen.
Bed linen and towels are provided. Some family rooms also available.
Available 5 Jul – 13 Sep only. Single room with bathroom per week £125. £25 accommodation placement fee.

Arrive Saturday, depart Saturday. Minimum length of stay two weeks.

walking distance to the school Accommodation ranges from five star luxury hotels to affordable, small and friendly bed and breakfast guest houses. A guest house costs approximately £40 per night for a single room and breakfast. Hotels cost from £40 - £130 per night.


School Details - Eastbourne

The School in Eastbourne is very well equipped. They have 22 classrooms, most with video, all with audio equipment interactive white board and a self-access Learning Centre with free broadband internet and email, TVs with video, a language laboratory as well as lots of other materials to help you study independently. The school has a lively café for good food at reasonable prices, a student lounge with TV, DVD player, free internet access, table tennis, pool table and other games and two lovely gardens.

The School is a centre for the internationally recognised University of Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults and many of our teachers have been trained at the School. Members of the teaching and academic management staff regularly give talks and lead workshops at international and national teachers' conferences and seminars.
The students come from all over the world. In the last three years, we have welcomed over 60 different nationalities, speaking nearly 40 different languages.

Eastbourne is only 90 minutes from London. There is a direct train link to Victoria Station in Central London. Eastbourne has a population of 90,000 people. It is a delightful seaside town, famous for its beautiful setting between the hills of the South Downs and the sea, and its excellent sunshine record. The school is located right in the centre of Eastbourne. All the town's facilities are within easy walking distance. Eastbourne is a quiet, safe place with lots of facilities for students, especially during the summer. There is a large shopping centre, plenty of restaurants, bars and discos, two large sports centres, three museums, an art gallery, three theatres, a multiplex cinema and numerous parks. Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour is the largest boat marina in Europe, with places for over 1100 boats.
