Course Description
If you are considering teaching English abroad or would like to find out more about TEFL, the TEFL Taster Day is for you. This is a structured day of activities and events and by the end of the day you will have a clear idea whether TEFL is for you.
You'll receive a certificate to say that you have attended the TEFL Taster Day course and a voucher which is redeemable against the Earls Court full and part-time Cambridge CELTA courses.
TEFL TASTER DAY PROGRAMME
The Taster Day will last from approximately 09:30am to 4pm. We advise trainees to get to the school by 09.15am. There will also be tea and coffee breaks during each of the morning and afternoon sessions. Please note that the Taster Day Certificate is not a replacement for the Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL certificates.
::Morning Programme 9:30am to 12:30pm will include:
- Getting to know each other: ice-breakers and warm-up activities.
- Foreign language lesson: Become a language student for half an hour, observe and experience teaching methods used in EFL.
- Short presentations about the leading industry qualifications: The Cambridge CELTA course and the Trinity CertTESOL course.
- Classroom management techniques: Just how do you control a classroom of rowdy learners?
- The 'G' word: How to go about teaching English grammar.
::Lunch 12:30pm to 1.30pm
-You will have to make your own arrangements for lunch, but there are plenty of cafés and sandwich shops in the local area.
::Afternoon Session 1:30pm to 4:00pm will include:
- Teaching practice preparation: Supervised by one of the tutors, you'll prepare your mini-lesson.
- Teaching practice sessions: Become and EFL teacher and observe your fellow-trainees' classes.
- Finding TEFL work abroad: Receive guidance and useful information about TEFL work opportunities in the UK and abroad.
- Presentation of Taster Day Certificates and £45 vouchers.

You would need native standard of English. As a guide a level 7 IELTS, the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English or an equivalent would be sufficient.
