TEFL Course funding
If you are out of work, or need some financial support, here are some
directions you can take which may be of interest to you.
TEFL Funding from your local Job Centre.
If you are receiving benefits or Jobseekers' allowance, and you have the objective of moving into TEFL, it might be worthwhile presenting this project to your employment advisor. It may be that a course can be financed as a "one-off training provision". The advantage of doing this through Cactus Teachers is that we are in a position to provide course quotes from different providers so that your advisor can compare and choose the most appropriate for the budget available.
TEFL funding via Career Development loans
All Cactus Teachers full-time, four week Cambridge CELTA and
Trinity CertTESOL courses in the UK have been approved by the Department
for Education and Skills. We recommend you contact the DFES directly in
order to discuss whether a career development loan (CDL) is appropriate
for you. You must be planning to work within Europe on completion of the
course. Please feel free to give us a quick call before you apply if you
are unsure about how to juggle the TEFL and CDL applications. Will will
be then be able to give you the LEARNING PROVIDER NUMBER you require for
your application.

(Closed Christmas Day & Easter Sunday).
TEFL funding via the New Deal for Lone Parents
The Cambridge CELTA is also classified by the Department for Education & Skills (DfES) as a LEVEL 4 qualification (Accreditation Number: 100/2664/2), meaning it may be financed under this deal.
Basic info can be found on the NEW DEAL website. Please contact your local Jobcentre Plus office or Jobcentre for more information, and to see if you are eligible. You can also telephone 0800 868 868 to get a leaflet or to arrange for a local Personal Adviser to get in touch.
When considering a course, it might be useful to look at the lower priced
Cambridge CELTA courses, to increase your chances of receiving funding.
