Ready for the next step?

Taking a diploma-level qualification is the next big step after your initial TEFL qualification and a couple of years of teaching experience. The decision to take this qualification might follow the realisation that TEFL is no longer just a gap year option for you, but a real career which you now wish to pursue and develop. In the likes of the UK and Spain, you might find that the better quality schools now insist on a Diploma-level qualification. For the most part though, a Cambridge DELTA or Trinity LTCL DipTESOL will open the doors that lead to greater responsibility within a school - whether as a senior teacher, Assistant DOS, DOS, or into teacher training or general school management.

Choosing a TEFL Diploma course

Diploma-level qualifications tend to run less frequently than the CELTA or CertTESOL. They will usually be either intensive (usually 8 weeks full-time), semi-intensive/part-time (where you might continue to work in your current school) or by distance learning.
