TEFL - Volunteering in Guatemala, Central AmericaThe beautiful villages around Guatemala City have a serious need for volunteer teachers in their elementary schools. These state schools receive very little funding and are short on materials and the teachers to use them - so volunteers are very welcome. Your creativity and resourcefulness will be needed to create educational materials in classrooms where fifty children may share a few textbooks. In a very casual environment, you will teach them English and lead recreational activities - like sports, arts, music and dance - plus accompany them on occasional field trips to the zoo and nearby volcanoes. TEFL - Volunteering in Costa Rica, Central AmericaCosta Ricans, from children to adults, are eager to learn English because they know it can bring them better jobs and brighter futures. They're also anxious to show you the best that Costa Rican culture has to offer. Volunteer in schools throughout the central valley in and around San José, or take your English-teaching skills to more rural settings in small villages and towns. You could help the staff English teacher prepare and deliver lessons to pupils aged between 2 and 18 years old. In rural schools, you will most likely be the main English teacher. TEFL - Volunteering in Peru, South AmericaChoose from worthwhile projects in the urban jungle of Lima or the lush green jungle of the Amazon, each of which will open your eyes to a truly fascinating country. Work in an orphanage in Lima teaching English and computer skills while getting involved with arts, games and sports. Head into the Amazon to teach the local guides English or chose to teach the children of the Ese-ejas rainforest tribe. In the province of Callao, volunteers lend a hand to agricultural activities at a garden school as well as teaching English to the instructors.
