Cairo

After teaching in Brazil for about 3 years, I decided to move to England to have some new experiences and also be able to do some travelling around Europe. That all proved to be impossible without money! Therefore I had to find a job doing something else other than teaching since I had no internationally recognised qualifications.I didn't have many choices really, so I decided to accept the bar work I was offered at the time. I ended up working there for 18 months, which was more than enough!

I couldn't stand it any longer and decided to save up for my CELTA course in London. I then decided to investigate a bit more about the CELTA courses on the internet. That was when I found the Cactus Teachers website which had all the information I needed.

Then I thought I might be interested in taking the course somewhere a bit more exotic than London - why not Cairo? I thought. The treatment I received from the very first time I phoned Cactus made me think they could really help me. I thought I might have some problems not being a native speaker of English. However, Suzanne proved to be an extremely helpful and encouraging person. I remember receiving lots of e-mails from her asking me how everything was going - interview, visa etc.

In fact I didn't really like the person I had my telephone interview with. She seemed to be very reluctant and made me have a second interview with one of the tutors. Anyway, I was accepted on the course, I worked hard, and got a pass 'B'.

My CELTA group was absolutely fabulous! I met so many nice people, some of which still remain good friends.The location couldn't have been better. Egypt is just an amazing country! And, believe it or not, you do have time to do lots of sightseeing even if you decide to take the full-time course.

I am currently in China working for EF English First in Shijiazhuang. I've been here for just over 3 months now and all I can say is that I've had a really good time. I am more than happy to provide anyone with more information about my CELTA course experience as well as Egypt and my current job.
