Important Information

It is a very intensive programme and because of this we strongly recommend that you have no other commitments for the duration of the course. This option is challenging, but at the same time it is a highly rewarding and enjoyable way of acquiring the skills and knowledge you need to become a competent and confident teacher of English as a foreign language.

This course takes place in the Royal Holloway University of London in Egham, one of the top universities in the country.
We have been offering the Trinity CertTESOL course in Royal Holloway in cooperation with the Modern Language department for over 20 years. Our dedicated teacher trainers are available to support and give advice throughout each course, including during the evenings and weekends, so you can be sure of lots of individual attention in helping you develop on this course. As a result, the course has a consistently high pass rate of nearly 100%.

The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is one of the leading entry level TESOL or TEFL qualifications. The course is designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English to non-native speakers. The course will give you a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of contemporary English language teaching, and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the role of the teacher.

Timetable The course is 4 weeks and 2 days, starting on a Thursday.
From Monday to Friday, the teaching practice usually takes place in the mornings and the class sessions in the afternoons, where you look at teaching methodologies, work on language awareness and get guidance on your teaching practice and assignments. There is always evening and weekend work to do throughout the course as this is when you will need to prepare your lessons and write up assignments so best not to take on other commitments during the course.
