Cadiz
Located directly on the Atlantic coast of Andalucia, in the South of Spain, Cadiz is a real alternative to other city-based courses. With an approximate population of 130,000, it is large enough to have plenty going on but retains the intimate feel of a small and friendly town. It is perfect for students looking for the authentic Spanish experience with access to stunning coastlines, beaches, the freshest seafood and a wonderful climate. Cadiz is an excellent location to study for your TESOL certificate as, not only is it a great opportunity to spend a month in this wonderful city, but it puts you on the doorstep of a wealth of job opportunities throughout Andalucia, the rest of Spain and Portugal.
- historic city
- relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
- stunning beaches
- water sports galore
- great food
- doesn't cost the earth
Cadiz boasts the obvious attraction of kilometres of beach and an abundance of low-cost water sports for the more active trainee (sailing and surfing, wind and kite surfing are particularly popular). However, its attractions are not limited to the sun-lover: for the cultural buffs Cadiz is the real Spain. Being the oldest city in Europe, history is deeply ingrained in the city and its long tradition of flamenco, tapas and seafood, and, of course, sherry drinking is evident wherever you look. Live music can be found on a weekly basis in many of the bars and the week-long February carnival is world renowned for its music competitions and could rival Rio for its vibrancy for the locals there is no rival!
Cadiz is also ideally situated for visits to the Sherry Triangle, Seville, Granada, Tarifa and other well-known Andalucian hot spots. And if that is not enough to keep you occupied in any spare time, both Portugal and Morocco are virtually on your doorstep!
Course Description
Having run our successful full-time intensive Trinity Certificate in TESOL course for several years now, we understand that the intensive nature of this type of short course does not suit everyone and it is for this reason that we have developed our Part Time Course.
The less intensive nature of the course gives teachers considerably more time to assimilate what they have learnt as well as substantially more individual support while at the same time enjoying all the benefits of the full-time course. Its part-time timetable means that it is ideal for teachers who also need to juggle family, work or university commitments.
The course is internationally recognised and externally validated by Trinity College in London. The team in Cadiz takes immense pride in the course that it provides and in the school building, where you will find quality training in a supportive and dynamic environment. The main components of the course are as follows:
Teaching Practice
The practical nature of the course is emphasised from the very beginning. Trainees are divided into teaching practice groups on the first day and begin their teaching practice on the second. Each group is assigned a practice class of real students, most of whom are Spanish, and a teaching practice tutor. During then group feedback session your teaching practice tutor discusses the lesson with you and gives you guidance on the teaching points to develop. Halfway through the course the practice class is changed to provide trainees with an opportunity to teach classes whose English is at a different level.
Input Sessions
The training team believes in learning through involvement, and students are expected to participate in many different ways during the sessions. Each input session addresses specific language areas and teaching techniques. These are commonly presented via a workshop approach, where your tutor acts as a facilitator rather than a lecturer.
Teaching Skills
During these sessions you will acquire and practise a wide range of teaching skills found in mainstream current English Language Teaching. A large number of activities and areas are covered in detail and these are all of immediate practical value for planning your teaching practice lessons. Video is used in some sessions and observation of the teaching staff and students provides further insights into lesson planning, staging and management.
Language Awareness
These sessions cover areas of grammar and phonology and are designed to provide trainees with a basic working knowledge of these subjects and how to teach them effectively. Trainees find these sessions particularly rewarding (and challenging!), as most native speakers of English have had very little previous opportunity of studying the nuts and bolts of their own language.
Learning an Unknown Language
You will participate in four language lessons in a language you have no prior experience of, taught completely in the language itself without recourse to English. This helps you put yourself in the position of a basic level learner of English and to experience communicative language teaching at first hand.

Customer Feedback
The school was well organised and efficient. The quality of trainers was good, They were professional and worked hard to lessen the stress and tension of a tight work schedule.
It was a pleasure to do the course in Cadiz. The school was centrally placed in the old part of the city. A pleasant working environment in and out of the school. The luxury of a trip to the beach to relax at the end of a day or at the weekend was an added bonus. The cost of living was low and it was good to immersed in the culture of the surrounding area.
