The majority of EFL teachers in Korea manage to save around 70% of their income, making Korea one of the more popular TEFL destinations. Whereas in most European countries your salary will just about cover your living expenses, in Korea you’ll be able to live comfortably, travel and even put some money aside.

Living and teaching in Korea is a rewarding experience. Korean students treat their teachers with the utmost respect, and they generally show enthusiasm for language learning along with a curiosity to find out more about the habits and culture of their foreign language teacher. Outside the classroom you'll find it easy to get to know the locals. You will meet other teachers from all walks of life who share your passion for all things teaching. Between and after class you can explore Seoul, the country’s capital and centre of the EFL market. The city has an active nightlife and lots to see and do when you want a break from (or with) your students. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke, cities like Suwon, Anyang and Incheon offer easy access to shopping and nightlife. Use your spare time to visit Buddhist temples, enjoy the breathtaking view of Korea’s mountains or visit one of the numerous natural parks. Don’t forget to update your loved ones sending them a post card occasionally. Warn them though: one of these might be telling them you’ll be staying a little longer than expected...
